It’s time to get together again, after these recent turbulent times, duly respecting the health measures that have been put in place. Several wineries are happy to able to invite the canton’s population to visit Friday 30 and Saturday 31 July, during the Fête du Vignoble, to explore their wines in an enjoyable and friendly way.
Quality is the word
Geneva is Switzerland’s third large wine-producing canton. It plays a very special role with its three distinct regions: the Mandement, the area between the Arve and Rhone (Lully, Bernex, Soral, and more), and between the Arve and Lake Geneva (Jussy, Anières, Gy, and others). More than 50 cellars will be opening their doors to the public 30 and 31 July in order to present the very promising 2020 vintage as well as oaked wines from the excellent 2019 vintage. These two days of celebration also offer the opportunity to take a wonderful hike through the Geneva countryside, going from one village to the next to learn about or re-discover these three regions, each with its own character.
The “Pass” and the Fête’s new wine glass
The “Pass” for the Fête du Vignoble is a pin designed by artist Buche, who also created the poster for this event. The Pass is valid for the two days and is sold for CHF20, at the wineries. With it, you receive the completely new tasting glass that has been made specially by Univerre, working with the vignerons/nnes. It’s designed to be a quality tasting glass; it also features the canton’s arms, engraved on the base.
Locally Yours
This fête provides the opportunity, as well, to take part in the “Locally Yours” operation launched by the canton to encourage direct sales. Visitors can buy coupons, bons du terrior, on the web site http://www.geneveavenue.ch/fr/bons-geneve-terroir and benefit from a 20% reduction for the selected wine cellar.
