Saturday 25 May: Wineries Open Day!
Nearly 80 wineries throughout the Geneva countryside open their doors to you Saturday 25 May. You can find them on our interactive map of Event.
Accent on Quality
Geneva, the third-largest winemaking canton in Switzerland, plays a special role with its three distinctive regions: Mandement, the area between the “Arve and Rhone” rivers (Lully, Bernex, Soral, etc.) and between the “Arve and Lake” (Jussy, Anières, Gy, etc.). Saturday 25 May some 75 wineries around the canton will welcome the public to showcase the excellent 2023 vintage and wines from 2022 that have matured in oak. The day offers the opportunity to take a wonderful hike through the Geneva countryside, passing from one village to another and to explore the three regions, each with its own personality.
The day’s Pass and the engraved glass
The Pass for the Wineries Open Day is a cloth bracelet, designed by artist Tom Tirabosco, who also created the poster for this event. The Pass is sold for CHF20 at the cellars. It includes the well-known tasting glass made specially for the event by Univerre. The glass is designed to provide a high quality tasting experience; the base is engraved with the canton’s arms.
Public transport for Wineries Open Day
To make it easier to get around the Geneva countryside, Unireso is collaborating with the event to provide free shuttle buses that facilitate moving from one village to the next in the Mandement region on the right bank and in the Arve et Lac region (Jussy, Anière, Gx etc..) on the left bank.
